TikTok as Source of Information

According to Forbes magazine, Tiktok is a platform that has touched on important issues such as the Covid-19 pandemic, Black Lives Matter, LGBTQA+ rights and more (Paoletti, 2022).

The content that this platform has is extensive because, in addition to being an entertainment application, people also use it as a source of information; this is thanks to the fact that the spread of news is faster and more viral.

TikTok refers to itself as a platform that is ''not just for entertainment, but also for learning something new, picking up a new skill, or just being inspired to do something you've never done before.'' (Paoletti, 2022).

TikTok, as a source of information, is a tool that facilitates teachers, doctors and specialists from different branches so that they can connect with society and thus transmit an educational message.

Types Of Educational Content On TikTok:

  1. Consistent Formats And Video Series: TikTok works as a tool to focus on certain specific topics. The tools for making videos by adding images, illustrations, fonts, music and more make it easy for the content creator.
  2.  Short Videos With Voiceovers: The creation of short videos can be more efficient since it does not bore the audience, voiceovers allow the content creator to connect with the audience in a more practical and direct way.
  3. Modern Trends: Following current trends and extending them to educational content can help people learn through already-known formats.

  1. I like your topic that TikTok works as an information source but we cannot totally rely on this app for knowledge. Today it is more used for amusement purposes than any good content.
